This time of year, everyone takes time to reflect on what they are thankful for. I’m lucky enough to have had the past 3 months to reflect on life, and boy do I have a lot to be thankful for! I have the most supportive friends and family that have stood by me through my crazy decisions in life and rooted me on every step of the way. I have had the opportunity to work for an amazing company where I grew a ton, had a lot of amazing perks, and made a great living that allowed me to buy my own place, and save enough money to take some time off to find what I’m really meant to do in life.
I would never have had the strength/confidence to take the risks I have without the people in my life. During the past 3 months, I’ve learned a lot from friends and family- I’ve learned how important it is to be present in day to day life, how your worst day could be someone else’s fairy tale, how important it is to find a cause you are passionate about and give back, and how important it is to take out time for YOURSELF.
I’ve also learned that whether I have a job or not, I tend to keep myself VERY busy, and fall into the same routines that are in my comfort zone. Sooo…. today, I embark on a journey to take myself completely out of my comfort zone for the first time. I’m headed to Thailand for 3.5 weeks!! The first part of my trip is all about exploring. I’m going to Bangkok, the Phi Phi Islands, and Chiang Mai- navigating through the country on my own without knowing the language (don’t worry, I’ll study up a little on the plane!). The second part is all about giving back. I’ll be volunteering through The Mirror Foundation for two weeks teaching English. I’m not sure what my assignment will be yet- teaching children, monks, etc., but part of it includes doing a homestay with a local Hill Tribe.
I’m more than excited to see what I can learn from this experience, and can’t wait to share my learnings with you. I’m hoping to get wifi to be able to post while I’m there, so stay tuned. Here goes nothing… follow your arrow!!!
